General Rules
Golden Sword (GS) is a 1v1 Tournament with Group Stage and Second Stage (Play-offs).
GS is played on Medieval II: Total War ver
1.2. The competition is by invitation only.
Group Stage
In Group Stage one match = two battles.
Every Player in Group Stage plays one match
versus four other players in his group.
Each player can use only one faction in one match (two battles in
Group Stage, possible three battles in Play-offs)
Faction Selection - i n Group Stage in the first battle Player listed on the left in the fixtures chooses nation first.
In Group Stage there is a rule called Nations Basket.
First Basket (FB) -
England, France, HRE, Venice, Spain, Byzantine, Denmark, Egypt, Milan, Moors, Poland, Portugal, Russia, Sicily, Scotland, Turks, Papal States.
Second Basket (SB) - Hungary, Aztecs, Mongols, Timurids.
There is no obligation to use both Baskets. But there is a benefit for playing nations from the Second Basket.
Points for each Basket
First Basket versus First Basket:
Winning means =
> 3 points for a winner, 0 points for a loser.
First Basket versus Second Basket: If FB wins the battle then =
> 2 points for FB, 0 points for SB.
If SB wins the
battle then =
> 4 points for SB, 0 points for FB.
Second Basket versus Second Basket: Winning means =
> 3 points for a winner, 0 points for a loser.
An example of using Nations Basket
In the first battle Player A takes France (from First Basket), Player B plays Mongols (from Second Basket).
Player A wins the first battle so he gains 2 points - Player B receives 0 points.
In the second battle Player A chooses England (again from the First Basket), Player B takes Hungary (again from the second Basket). This time Player B wins so he gains 4 points for defeating England (FB) with his Hungary (SB) - no points for Player A.
The battle result is 1-1 but the points result is 4-2 for Player B.
In Group Stage there is NO distinction between attacker and defender.
Promotion in Group Stage
Two Players from each group are promoted to the Second Stage. Number of points decides who goes further.
In case of the same number of points decisive is the result (points) of a match played between interested Players.
If their match in Group Stage ended with the same number of points, additional match has to be played. Additional match is played until one Player
wins two battles - so it may end with 2-0 or 2-1. The one who wins goes to the Second Stage.
Second Stage (Play-offs)
1/16, Quarter-finals, Semi-finals are
played until one Player wins two battles (possible results - 2-0 or 2-1) -
so called Best of Three
In the Second Stage there IS a distinction between attacker and defender but there is NO Nation's Basket.
In Second Stage (excluding the Grand Final) there is a rule called Cash Basket .
All players who proceeded to Second Stage have 20000
denarii to spend per one match. These 20k can be spent only in first two
battles - possible third battle in Play-offs is played on 10k, no matter
how much money both players spent on their first two battles. Players do
not have to spend all their money in their match - they can save money and
their Cash Basket in next round will be bigger plus what they saved in
previous stage.
Possible
levels of money to pick:
9500, 10000, 10500
An example of using Cash Basket
Player A
advanced to 1/32 from the first place in his Group. He
is to face player B who advenced second from his Group. Before their match
begins Player B has to write in forums how much money he wants to use
in the first battle from his 20k. Player A then has to do exactly the same thing in forums - write how much
he wants to spend in the
first battle and he, as a first one, has to write how much he wants
to spend in second battle as well. After it is done, players can play
their match with exactly the same amount of money that they confirmed in forums.
Example - in 1/32 in the first battle
Player A spent 10000, in second 9500. He won first battle but lost second
one. Decider (third battle) is played on 10000 for both playersm no matter
how much money each player spent so far. Player A won and went
through to 1/16. Now in next stage he has 20500 denarii to spend
in first two battles. He won again and spent only 20000 on two battles,
so in next stage he has 21000 denarii to spend.
In case of forfeit player who goes
through loses 20000 denarii.
Words of advice
Every player should think carefully before writing in forums how
much money he wants to spend - if we find out that the post was edited
after respond from second player, the one who did it will be removed from
the competition.
Also, it is essential to keep your logs/replays in case of
breaking the rules by your rival. If we find out that a player played with
different amount of money from what he confirmed in forums, he
will be removed immedietaly.
1/32
The Player who was
promoted to the Second Stage from the FIRST position in his Group, starts as a defender and chooses nation and his cash amount for the first battle (in Forums) AFTER his opponent's
choice. In next battle he attacks and chooses nation first, and in the possible third battle he is defender again.
1/16
The Player who has
gained more points in Group Stage
is a defender in the first battle and chooses nation and his cash amount for the first battle (in Forums) AFTER his
opponent. Next battles as in 1/16.
If both Players have the same number of points in Group Stage, then the one who has better ratio won-lost battle is
a defender in the first match.
Quarter-finals and Semi-finals
The formula is the same as in Quarter-finals.
Final
Final is played in the "best of five" formula. It may end with:
3-0
3-1
3-2
The rules about choosing
nations
and attacking/defending are the same as in Quarter-finals and Semi-finals. Cash Basket does not exist.
Deadlines - not playing the games before the deadline term will result in admin giving a fotfeit to one of players.
